Standards Map
Overview
Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSSM) is used for quality and consistency in mathematic teaching and learning. The CCSSM graphs are intended to be used by teachers to identify where they can find content for each standard within the curriculum material.
Grade 4 CCSSM
1. Operations and Algebraic Thinking (OA)
Use the four operations with whole numbers to solve problems.
Gain familiarity with factors and multiples.
Generate and analyze patterns.
2. Number and Operations in Base Ten (NBT)
Generalize place value understanding for multi-digit whole numbers.
Understand multi-digit whole numbers (up to 1,000,000) by recognizing the place value of each digit.
Perform multi-digit arithmetic (addition, subtraction, and multiplication up to four digits, and division with dividends up to four digits).
3. Number and Operations—Fractions (NF)
Understand decimal notation for fractions, and compare decimal fractions.
Extend understanding of fraction equivalence and ordering.
Build fractions from unit fractions by applying and extending previous understandings of operations on whole numbers.
Understand decimal notation for fractions, and compare decimal fractions.
4. Measurement and Data (MD)
Solve problems involving measurement and conversion of measurements.
Understand concepts of angle and measure angles.
Represent and interpret data.
Convert measurements from a larger unit to a smaller unit.
5. Geometry (G)
Draw and identify lines and angles, and classify shapes by properties of their lines and angles.
Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines, or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size.
Understand concepts of angle measurement and solve addition and subtraction problems to find unknown angles on a diagram in real-world and mathematical problems.
Grade 5 CCSSM
1. Operations and Algebraic Thinking (OA)
Write and interpret numerical expressions.
Use parentheses, brackets, or braces in numerical expressions and evaluate expressions with these symbols.
Analyze patterns and relationships.
2. Number and Operations in Base Ten (NBT)
Understand the place value system.
Perform operations with multi-digit whole numbers and with decimals to hundredths.
Use place value understanding to round decimals to any place.
3. Number and Operations—Fractions (NF)
Use equivalent fractions as a strategy to add and subtract fractions.
Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication and division to multiply and divide fractions.
4. Measurement and Data (MD)
Convert like measurement units within a given measurement system.
Represent and interpret data.
Understand concepts of volume and relate volume to multiplication and to addition.
5. Geometry (G)
Graph points on the coordinate plane to solve real-world and mathematical problems.
Classify two-dimensional figures into categories based on their properties.
